Ka'oir Cosmetics Rude Girl Lipstick

FIRE!! My friend Melissa put me onto this line and I kind of forgot about it until I saw that she was having a flash sale. I was going to go with a nude color but figured that I can get nude colors in a drugstore, but purple, I cannot! There are so many unique, bright colors to choose from. I ordered it on Saturday and got it on Wednesday, not bad. With shipping it was $20, which is by no means cheap, but I wanted to try it and why not when there was a sale. In terms of application, it goes on very smoothly and is very pigmented. I tried at work and thought it was too much, but I took the chance and walked around anyway and I got many compliments.

Cute "Ka'oir" tape on the box

Lipstick was packed in polka dot tissue paper

This box is the cutest

Shiny casing. Kind of gives the impression of it being cheap

I like that the name is also visible once the cover is removed

Ka'oir Rude Girl Swatch

LOVE IT!

Nude Lippies!

After having fun with corals and pinks all summer I'm back into nude for the Fall, but this time I'm doing lipsticks. I'm normally a lipgloss gal, the shinier the better but I recently started going nuts with Rihanna's MAC line and the matte colors and her Nude lipstick from her latest collection I adore, so now I'm looking for different shades of nude. Not in frost, but creams or matte. When I say "nude", I mean more "neutral" because I'm not necessarily looking for lipsticks that match my skin-tone exactly. I found the blog Bauce Mag and took note of the colors she recommended for dark skin. I put the names of those in red text below. Some I discovered myself in the store or just by Googling lipstick images and checking them out in person.

NYX

My bare lips
NYX Color Lip Balm in the color Spasibo. $2.99
NYX Lipstick in MARS (605), below in sunlight. $3.99

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm. $5.99
I like the lip balm. There's a slight HINT of color and it would probably work well as a base which is what I did to apply the lipstick and gloss.

I like the color of the Mars lipstick, application is smooth, but they don't feel as creamy and rich on the lips like some lipsticks do. On the NYX website, Mars is described as a "deep-tone beige with pink undertone". I went looking for Hades, a "muted brown/pink" but they didn't carry it at the place I went to.

The Stockholm lipgloss is a pain to apply, you definitely need a lip brush to even out the application. Well at least I do. Since I didn't have one, I used my finger. It dries matte which you don't necessarily expect with a gloss. Good for those who like using a lipgloss wand but like the look of a matte lipstick. When it's dry, my looks look just that, dry. If I smile, you can see the cracks in it. Maybe I'll try it with a better base. The color is described as, "mid-tone beige pink".

Based on the color descriptions alone both colors are extremely similar. They're both kind of on the peachy/coral side in my opinion. In person the gloss is a tad brighter.

N.Y.C. & Wet n Wild
I got two more lipsticks when I went to the Duane Reade near my job the same day.

-
NYC Plum Rum. Almost unnoticeable. The pigment in these lipsticks aren't the best. $1.99
Wet n Wild Bare it All (902C). $2.49. Goes on smooth and pigmented, but the rounded shape of the actual lipstick makes application hard on my non-existent lips :P

When I got home I decided to take out my nude lip gloss and sticks and it's rather embarrassing. I honestly have an obsession with them and it doesn't help that I sell Avon/mark. In the image below the lipsticks are all new, the glosses I had from before aside from the NYX one.

L-R: mark glow baby glow luxe in Sun Luxe, RiRi Nude, WnW Bare it All, Avon Glazewear Nude-Tricious, NYC in Plum Rum, Avon Glazewear, NYX lipbalm from above, mark lots of laquer in Thrill, NYX gloss from above, MAC Entice, mark lipclick in Sugar Pie, Avon Lip Radiance (don't know the shade), NYX lipstick from above

Lipsticks from pic above with colors shown: RiRi, WnW, NYC, mark and NYX. All very different yet still considered nude in my eyes.

Rimmel London
10/22- Went to Target and Rimmel was on sale (ugghhhh), so I got two from the Kate Moss Lasting Finish line, #'s 08 and 14. Each were $4.49. Almost $2 more at other places.

Left is 08, right is 14

Revlon
10/23: I got Revlon Mink, and since it was BOGO 1/2 off at Rite Aid, I got another color called Chocolate Velvet. Both are from their "Nudes and Browns" Super Lustrous collection, are cream formulations, and are similar. Mink is more nude/beige/caramel and the Chocolate has more of a reddish/brick tint to it. In the photo below you can see the subtle difference. These glide on great and are very nice and creamy. I haven't used Revlon lipsticks since high school, but I remember they always had an annoying smell and that's actually why I stopped, it was nauseating. I am pleased to see there is no fragrance at all now. There was another color I saw in the display, Choco-Liscious, that I was contemplating but I felt it may have been too dark to be a "nude" on me. Perhaps someone of a darker complexion. It's beautiful though, so I might actually still get it. Shhhhhh ;)

Top: left is Mink, right is Chocolate Velvet. Bottom: Chocolate Velvet on my top lip, Mink on the bottom
I pray I get the strength not to dabble in the CoverGirl Queen collection, I noticed they have some nice neutrals. Maybelline too... :O

RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Lip Collection

Love them all!

Clockwise from top left:
RiRi Woo lipglass, Talk That Talk lipstick, Nude lipstick and RiRi Woo lipstick. Notice how the Woo lipstick and lipglass look completely different from each other and they're the same color? I wasn't going to get the lipstick, but I'm glad I did, it's brighter.

Sneak Peak of RiRi Talk That Talk Lipstick

From Rihanna's RiRi Hearts MAC Fall collection. I ordered it online on Monday and got it on Thursday, pretty fast. I like it. I haven't done dark in a long time. This is me just throwing it on. It is a buildable color though, which is good. I'm going to post again when I do a look with it. Remind me, lol.

Lipstick

I ordered from Rihanna's MAC Fall collection online yesterday and got her lipstick Talk That Talk. Yay! I'll talk about that fun process when I get it. But while waiting for it to be delivered I decided to check my lipsticks for a nice dark color. This is the darkest, it's Cover Girl Lip Perfection in Embrace. I love it, though I thought it was darker. But that's where TTT will come in! I haven't worn a dark color like that since high school!

RiRi Woo Lipglass

This is just one light coat, no lipliner.

mark Lipclick in the color Sweetie Pie

I absolutely love this color. A nice neutral/nude with a hint of pink. The case has a magnet that keeps it snapped shut so it won't open up in your pocket book or makeup case. I want to get RiRi's Nude color from her Fall MAC collection, wish me luck. The MAC is a matte color while the mark is more creamy. I got the RiRi Woo lipglass today, I'll try it later and post a pic.

If you want to try out mark's Lipclick get onto my Avon page, www.youravon.com/khinkson. You can shop anywhere in the U.S.

My Faux-Hawk With Braiding Hair

I did my hair last night, took me all of 1/2 hr. Bought 2 packs of $2 braiding hair, one 1B and one 1. Kanekalon, but the grade is called Afrelle which is apparently softer. It really is soft. I washed and blow dried my hair and did two ponytails, top and bottom. I then separated my hair in two and did two two-strand twists. I put a Goody ouchless elastic in place of the rubber band that's already on the braiding hair. I then two-strand twisted each side of the elastic and attached it around my ponytail with the Goody, nice and tight then I pretty much spiraled the hair and pinned as I went along. A hand mirror is a necessity. I used bobby pins to fasten the braiding hair to my own and hair pins within the braiding hair to keep its shape. My sides, I used the Cream of Nature Argan Edge control then some Eco Styler and tied it down for the night. Woke up this morning and put some hairspray in it to control the fly aways. No sheen because I don't want it to look unnatural.

I did a similar style back in August, but it wasn't a mohawk style, it was sort of an updo look and I used the Marley braiding hair which is more coarse. The back is just my own hair pulled up. I'm not sure if I have pics of it.

Cute Fall 2K13 Booties- Ankle Straps

I swear, I went to three places in the last few days and have seen variations these booties. I love them! Especially in the taupe/natural color. You can wear it with many things, skirts, jeans, leggings. It's the perfect color, it can get a little dirty and you won't even notice. The wooden stacked heel and burnished toe give it that rugged look. I love Fall only for the fashion!

Aldo has the higher heeled version. This was the first place they caught my eye. These ones are in genuine leather.
Salazie
$140

Then I went to Target and saw the budget-friendly one in "suede". I love that Target offers this option since a lot of trends you don't want to spend a lot of money on.
Mossimo Supply's Kiriana
$34.99

Piperlime also has the genuine suede version, which I think the Mossimo one looks exactly like.
DV by Dolce Vita Java
$99
It's that time of the year, run out and get any one of these to pull together your Fall looks!

M·A·C Cosmetics | In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash

New mascara from MAC. I would love to compare it to Avon's upcoming Mega Effects, but it's double the price!!

RiRi Hearts MAC RiRi Boy lipstick

Yes, I was one of the slew of people who sat at their desk and waited forever to order from Rihanna's line on June 25th. Can you believe they had an online waiting room?! Your computer spooled on the screen for hours with your stuff waiting to be checked out. I put my order through right at noon, by 1:30pm I was still held hostage at my desk with a spooling screen. I just said whatever and left to run an errand at JCP. While there I logged into their website from my phone and got right into my cart! I placed the order for RiRi Boy and Heaux lipsticks on my phone at 2pm while standing in JCP. When I got to work my screen was finally in my cart and I ordered another Heaux just in case. That one became back-ordered. I really wasn't interested in the highlighter and blush/bronzer duo since I have enough of those. Needless to say the whole line sold out except for RiRi Woo, since most people got that at the first launch. I got my lipsticks about 2 days later, and the backorder maybe last week.

I experimented with ways of putting it on and noticed that it works the best with my Avon lip primer. You cannot use anything too greasy or "slippery" underneath because it's a matte finish. It just doesn't apply properly.

In this pic I used MAC Heroine liner, RiRi Boy and dabbed a bit of MAC Nicki Minaj II lipglass on top. I find without the lipglass my lips look dry and cracked after a while. It's not a lipstick you can just put on and not worry about, at least not me. I'm constantly checking it in the mirror. I don't really go through that with Heaux. I'm thinking it's the color that makes it more noticeable.

Her next collection comes out on October 13th. Let me exercise my fingers from now :/

Day 2 1/2 of Avon nail art and...

Last night
... one nail on my right hand, the tip has already peeled off and others are well on their way. And I wash dishes with gloves on! At least the Sally Hansen one lasts 7 out of the 10 days (advertised duration) for me before it starts cracking, and I can get away with about 3 weeks on my toes. They also don't peel, they rub off at the tips. Maybe it's just me re the Avon one. Try it and let me know. I am right-handed and nail polish doesn't last long on that hand period, but 2 days? I noticed a similar product by Essie while I was in Target yesterday for $9.99. It seems that the Avon strips may be more comparable to these as they aren't nail polish either. I should try them for comparison's sake.

This morning

Avon Nail Strips

I tried again today because I couldn't just leave it undone. They don't look bad, I'm kind of digging the shiny look. Let's see how long they last as the tips and sides aren't exactly sealed. My toes, the polishes I used l-r: color CLUB in Chelsea Girl, Nicki Minaj O.P.I. Collection's Did It On 'Em, Fly (with her Save Me on top), and Avon Nailwear Pro in Jade.

Avon Nail Art Design Strips vs Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Ever since discovering Sally Hansen's strips I've been in love. I've written about them before in this blog two years ago. I can do my toes and hands from one package and it looked like I got Minx done at a nail salon . When I saw that Avon was coming out with their own strips in my demo book I said I'd give it a try since the designs looked nice. I got the "Cheetah Pink", duh ;) Already, with just the product names I could tell they would be  different. SH is nail polish and Avon's sounded like stickers. I was right. The Avon ones are in a normal, flat package and you just peel off each strip. SH comes in a rectangular box in a vacuum sealed package along with a mini file and a cuticle stick which comes in handy. You can literally buy it at the store and apply them right away. Avon's does not, though they do recommend that you use both. SH's strips are nail polish, so they smell like it, Avon's smelled like plastic. Almost kiddie-like. I peeled one Avon sticker off, I was going to do my big toe, and immediately it was a P.I.T.A, it curled and stuck together and I had to fight to un-stick it. That happened every. Single. Time. Not fun. With SH, I could use the other end of the strip on my toe, not with Avon, it was useless after that. It's also a lot thicker than SH so when it was time to file the overlap on the sides (no strip fits everyone perfectly), it took forever and so much effort. SH is thinner, so filing the sides are a cinch, you can even use nail polish remover on a piece of a cotton ball spread over the cuticle stick. With Avon, once on, they don't look like if you got them professionally done like with SH, it looks like shiny plastic on your nails. I did my two big toes and decided to put real nail polish on the other toes just to save me the drama. I did my left hand, stopped to eat and when I washed my hands I noticed the edges of some of my nails had already un-stuck! I was so pissed that I just ripped one off entirely, then realized it leaves a sticky residue on the nail. Gah! I just used my buffer to get rid of it. With SH you have to remove it with nail polish remover, which takes a while, but at least that means it's hard to come off! I'm sitting here writing this with the nails on my right hand bare, the design on one finger of my left hand peeled off and nothing but my big toes done. I give up up for tonight. SH takes about 20 mins to apply to both my hands and feet, this would have taken all night!

Avon Eye Shadow and Lipstick

I'm wearing the Avon sapphire eyeshadow and the Ever Lasting lipstick in Fiery Red. It's a cream shade and it goes on so smooth. I thought I had my red lipliner, but I don't.
