New mascara from MAC. I would love to compare it to Avon's upcoming Mega Effects, but it's double the price!!

RiRi Hearts MAC RiRi Boy lipstick

Yes, I was one of the slew of people who sat at their desk and waited forever to order from Rihanna's line on June 25th. Can you believe they had an online waiting room?! Your computer spooled on the screen for hours with your stuff waiting to be checked out. I put my order through right at noon, by 1:30pm I was still held hostage at my desk with a spooling screen. I just said whatever and left to run an errand at JCP. While there I logged into their website from my phone and got right into my cart! I placed the order for RiRi Boy and Heaux lipsticks on my phone at 2pm while standing in JCP. When I got to work my screen was finally in my cart and I ordered another Heaux just in case. That one became back-ordered. I really wasn't interested in the highlighter and blush/bronzer duo since I have enough of those. Needless to say the whole line sold out except for RiRi Woo, since most people got that at the first launch. I got my lipsticks about 2 days later, and the backorder maybe last week.

I experimented with ways of putting it on and noticed that it works the best with my Avon lip primer. You cannot use anything too greasy or "slippery" underneath because it's a matte finish. It just doesn't apply properly.

In this pic I used MAC Heroine liner, RiRi Boy and dabbed a bit of MAC Nicki Minaj II lipglass on top. I find without the lipglass my lips look dry and cracked after a while. It's not a lipstick you can just put on and not worry about, at least not me. I'm constantly checking it in the mirror. I don't really go through that with Heaux. I'm thinking it's the color that makes it more noticeable.

Her next collection comes out on October 13th. Let me exercise my fingers from now :/

Day 2 1/2 of Avon nail art and...

Last night
... one nail on my right hand, the tip has already peeled off and others are well on their way. And I wash dishes with gloves on! At least the Sally Hansen one lasts 7 out of the 10 days (advertised duration) for me before it starts cracking, and I can get away with about 3 weeks on my toes. They also don't peel, they rub off at the tips. Maybe it's just me re the Avon one. Try it and let me know. I am right-handed and nail polish doesn't last long on that hand period, but 2 days? I noticed a similar product by Essie while I was in Target yesterday for $9.99. It seems that the Avon strips may be more comparable to these as they aren't nail polish either. I should try them for comparison's sake.

This morning

Avon Nail Strips

I tried again today because I couldn't just leave it undone. They don't look bad, I'm kind of digging the shiny look. Let's see how long they last as the tips and sides aren't exactly sealed. My toes, the polishes I used l-r: color CLUB in Chelsea Girl, Nicki Minaj O.P.I. Collection's Did It On 'Em, Fly (with her Save Me on top), and Avon Nailwear Pro in Jade.

Avon Nail Art Design Strips vs Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Ever since discovering Sally Hansen's strips I've been in love. I've written about them before in this blog two years ago. I can do my toes and hands from one package and it looked like I got Minx done at a nail salon . When I saw that Avon was coming out with their own strips in my demo book I said I'd give it a try since the designs looked nice. I got the "Cheetah Pink", duh ;) Already, with just the product names I could tell they would be  different. SH is nail polish and Avon's sounded like stickers. I was right. The Avon ones are in a normal, flat package and you just peel off each strip. SH comes in a rectangular box in a vacuum sealed package along with a mini file and a cuticle stick which comes in handy. You can literally buy it at the store and apply them right away. Avon's does not, though they do recommend that you use both. SH's strips are nail polish, so they smell like it, Avon's smelled like plastic. Almost kiddie-like. I peeled one Avon sticker off, I was going to do my big toe, and immediately it was a P.I.T.A, it curled and stuck together and I had to fight to un-stick it. That happened every. Single. Time. Not fun. With SH, I could use the other end of the strip on my toe, not with Avon, it was useless after that. It's also a lot thicker than SH so when it was time to file the overlap on the sides (no strip fits everyone perfectly), it took forever and so much effort. SH is thinner, so filing the sides are a cinch, you can even use nail polish remover on a piece of a cotton ball spread over the cuticle stick. With Avon, once on, they don't look like if you got them professionally done like with SH, it looks like shiny plastic on your nails. I did my two big toes and decided to put real nail polish on the other toes just to save me the drama. I did my left hand, stopped to eat and when I washed my hands I noticed the edges of some of my nails had already un-stuck! I was so pissed that I just ripped one off entirely, then realized it leaves a sticky residue on the nail. Gah! I just used my buffer to get rid of it. With SH you have to remove it with nail polish remover, which takes a while, but at least that means it's hard to come off! I'm sitting here writing this with the nails on my right hand bare, the design on one finger of my left hand peeled off and nothing but my big toes done. I give up up for tonight. SH takes about 20 mins to apply to both my hands and feet, this would have taken all night!

Avon Eye Shadow and Lipstick

I'm wearing the Avon sapphire eyeshadow and the Ever Lasting lipstick in Fiery Red. It's a cream shade and it goes on so smooth. I thought I had my red lipliner, but I don't.

The eye shadows are long lasting, wiped everything off with a paper towel and both of those aren't budging!

Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick

In "Mauve Ice". I mentioned getting it in one of my earlier posts. They changed up the look and formula of this line and to be honest, I never tried the one before because I always found long wearing lip products to be dry and drying.  I saw in my demo book that they changed the formula so I decided to give it a shot. I found that it's not drying and I can rub my lips together and they actually move :D I should try it without my Avon lip primer to see if it feels the same. It's a nice frost color and does last a while. I ate a bagel for breakfast and it was still on after I was done. This pic is after I reapplied though.  Avon says,

"24-hour comfortable wear! Formulated with Colorlock Complex – locks on color. High-definition color infused with vitamin E and wheat protein. Keeps lips from feeling dry for 24 hours."

I don't know about leaving it on for 24hrs, and quite frankly, who does that?

The liner is Avon Ultra Luxury in Rosebud.

My hair is a wash-n-go from Saturday that I pulled up. I used my Carol's Daughter Monoi shampoo and deep conditioned with ORS Olive Oil Deep Conditioner. Must have gotten it in one of my Curl Box's. Sat under my steamer. I rinsed then applied the CD Monoi Oil, Kinky Curly Knot Today and the rest of my Kinky Curly gel (it's done now after having it since 2011!) I really love this stuff and it is a repeat buy. Each morning since then I've just been wetting in the shower and pulling up. So easy! No twists to take out!
